About SommBox
What is SommBox?
SommBox is a curated wine tasting service. We build themed boxes around specific producers, terroirs, varietals, or regions — each containing six Coravin-preserved 100ml pours. Every box includes sommelier-written tasting notes so you actually understand what you are drinking.
Who is SommBox for?
Anyone who wants to drink better wine and understand why it is better. Our customers range from curious beginners to seasoned collectors. If you are serious about wine without taking yourself too seriously, you will feel at home here.
Where are you based?
We are based in Europe and ship across the continent. Our sourcing takes us from Burgundy to Barolo, from Rioja to Bandol and beyond.
The Boxes
What is in each box?
Each box contains six 100ml Coravin-preserved wine pours, a tasting guide with notes on each wine, producer background, region context, and food pairing suggestions. Some boxes also include information on vintages and winemaking philosophy.
How do I choose a box?
Browse by category: Terroir Boxes focus on specific appellations, Varietal Boxes explore grape varieties across regions, Rockstars feature individual iconic producers, and Rootcamp boxes are designed for structured learning. If you are unsure, start with a Rootcamp box or contact us directly.
Can I buy boxes as a gift?
Yes — all boxes make excellent gifts. Add a personalised message at checkout. If you would like a gift card instead, get in touch with us directly.
The Coravin System
What is Coravin?
Coravin is a wine access system that extracts wine through the cork using a thin needle, without ever opening the bottle. The bottle is then topped with inert argon gas, preserving the remaining wine perfectly. This means we can offer 100ml pours from bottles that would normally cost hundreds of euros — without compromising the wine in any way.
Is Coravin-preserved wine the same as the original?
Yes. Because the bottle is never opened and the wine is protected with argon gas, the wine is identical to pouring directly from the bottle. It is the same wine, at the same quality, in a smaller format.
Ordering and Delivery
How long does delivery take?
Standard delivery takes 3-5 business days within Europe. Express options are available at checkout. All boxes are packed to prevent breakage during transit.
Do you ship outside Europe?
Currently we ship within Europe only. We are working on expanding. Sign up to our newsletter to be notified when we ship to your country.
Can I return a box?
If your box arrives damaged or with a quality issue, contact us immediately at hello@somm-box.com and we will make it right. Due to the nature of perishable goods, we cannot accept returns on boxes that have been opened.
Wine Questions
What if I do not like one of the wines?
That is actually part of the experience. Not every wine will be your favourite — but understanding why is how your palate develops. Our tasting notes are designed to help you articulate what you are tasting, even when you do not enjoy it.
Are the wines available to buy as full bottles?
Some of the wines in our boxes are available as full bottles on request. Contact us if you fall in love with a specific wine and want more.
